Chiropractic Care
These are a handful of chiropractic care treatments I offer patients, tailored specifically for your individual needs.
Chiropractic Adjustment
The adjustment is a quick, yet gentle procedure applied by hand, or with a tool (such as an Activator) to an affected joint. Chiropractic adjustments help to free our bodies from joint restrictions, fibrous adhesions, inflammation, spinal nerve irritation, and bulging discs. These adjustments are painless and serve to rewire the nervous system to promote healing and optimal function. Chiropractic doctors are the only health care professionals trained to deliver the chiropractic adjustment, which takes years of specialized study to perfect.
Cryotherapy
In the acute phase of healing, cold packs are utilized to decrease inflammation and desensitize an affected area. See related blog post on “Heat vs. Cold” for more information.
Cranial Sacral Therapy
Cranial sacral therapy is a gentle, noninvasive form of bodywork that addresses the bones of the head, spinal column and sacrum. The goal is to release tension and restore motion in those areas which alleviates stress and pain.
Cranial sacral therapy seeks to restore the natural position of the bones and can decrease stress from chronic injuries as well as provide relief from migraine headaches, neck and back pain, temporomandibular joint disorder (the inflammation of the joint that connects the lower jaw to the skull) and more.
Kinesio Taping
Kinesio® Taping Method is a great therapeutic tool that can help while you are recovering from a sports injury and get you back in the game quicker. Kinesio® Tex Tape provides support for muscles and tendons, helps to prevent over-contraction of muscles, and also helps to reduce inflammation and swelling. Ask Dr. Seyhoon for more information, or if you would like a complimentary demonstration.
Myofascial Release
MFR (Myofascial Release ) is a type of deep, intense manual therapy which is used to break up adhesions, muscle spasms, and tension knots by working with and against the grain of the muscle while the patient actively stretches the same muscle. Unlike traditional massage, it is not meant to be soothing, but rather therapeutic.
Pediatrics & Pregnancy
During pregnancy, many women experience musculoskeletal discomfort that can be relieved safely and effectively by chiropractic methods. Dr. Seyhoon is trained in treating children and pregnant women with back pain, sciatica, carpal tunnel, pubic symphysis disorder, premature contractions, breech turning, headaches, and back labor. Proprioceptive & Neuromuscular Re-education
Neuromuscular re-education is a specialized kind of proprioceptive training to help your nervous system coordinate its function, restore balance, and improve strength. Note that speed, strength and agility are a neurological phenomenon, so results are only achieved when the nerves are functioning efficiently. NMR sessions are 30 minutes and may include the use of mat exercises, therabands, physioballs, free weights, foam rollers and balance boards to help improve strength, stamina, flexibility, and balance.
Trigger Point Therapy
Also known as ischemic compression, trigger point therapy involves pressure applied to a muscle “knot” which has caused the muscle to be starved of its blood supply. Once the pressure is released, fresh blood flows quickly through the muscle and pushes out any tension, adhesions, or toxins.
Flexion-Distraction
Flexion-Distraction technique is performed on a special table when someone has suffered from chronic low back complaints, compression of the spine, or a lumbar disk issue. With this technique, the lower back is stretched out by both the table and Doctor of Chiropractic resulting in a relief of lumbar pressure. While very gentle in application, this technique is equivalent to an intense workout for the spine and promotes hydration and circulation to the soft tissues of the low back region, which can promote healing.
Logan Basic
Practitioners of Logan Basic believe that the sacrum (base of the spine, or tailbone) can be stuck in a particular position preventing the normal flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from the sacrum up to the rest of the spine. By releasing tension on the ligaments that control the sacrum, we can increase the CSF flow much like increasing the flow of a water through a tube, or fountain. Many patients report feeling more relaxed and sleep better following these types of adjustments.
Thompson
The Thompson technique involves a spring-loaded table in which different parts of the table raise up 1/2 – 1″ and then drop down when a quick gentle pressure is applied at that area. Thompson is also known as “drop table” technique.
Dr. Seyhoon often uses these adjustments for the pelvis and SI joints, and equates them to a gentle “reset” technique for this region of the body and may be used safely during pregnancy.
